Gallformers ID Notes

A hairless, globular, light-purple bud gall on an older twig of Quercus stellata, with a small black papilla at the apex. When observed in October in Virginia and North Carolina, the gall was densely spotted with tan-white dots raised above the surface of the gall, causing an irregularly bumpy texture.

The shape and phenology of this gall are broadly consistent with Weld's undescribed gall listed here.
