Gallformers ID Notes

Red/orange hairless spangle on the margin of Quercus alba leaves starting in early summer, persisting on the leaf into late September. Differs from Phylloteras poculum in completely lacking any trace of a white-blue glaucous coating. These galls are typically flatter than those of P poculum but occasionally show a raised boss in the center. Usually single, occasionally in groups of 2-3. Observed in Ohio.
