This species was reared in August 1906 from a terminal conical leaf gall on the whorled loosestrife, Lysimachia quadri- folia, taken at Albany, N. Y. A similar gall, possibly that of this species, was found on L. terrestris August 9, 1912, at Elm Lake in the Adirondacks. Eupelmus dryorhizoxeni Ashm. was reared from an axillary bud gall possibly produced by the same midge.

Gall. This is a conical enlargement of the terminal bud (pi. 9, fig. 2) and contains a number of yellowish larvae.

Rhabdophaga porrecta n . sp . [i.e. Primavera porrecta] This remarkable form was taken April 5, 1908 by C . P . Alexander at Gloversville , N . Y . It is anomalous in that the antennal characters are most suggestive of the Epidosariae , while the wing , tarsal and genitalic characters indicate strong affinities with this genus . An apical loose bud gall, 2-2.5 cm in diameter and 3-3.5 cm long, the component leaflets rather loose with overall appearence similar to pine cone gall on willow. Elongate central cell containing the larva.

A small, clustered, rosette deformity arising from the closely set buds, the tip of the twig apparently becoming stunted as a result. The individual galls are about 2cm long, 1 cm in diatmeter and composed of numerous closely set, aborted leaves, the central ones somewhat longer than the others and variously curled.

Rhabdophaga rileyana

Reared from a crumpled soft maple leaf having a portion badly folded, the folds being very irregular, thickened and somewhat shriveled.

On willow (Salix).

Gall appears like several closely rolled terminal leaves.
