Miscellaneous Records of Cecidomyiidae (Diptera) from the USA

MICHIGAN... ex Pteridium aquilinum...1 adult...
This specimen emerged from a downward-folded pinnule margin of a bracken fern... leaving its pupal exuviae protruding from one end of the fold...R. J. Gagné (in litt., 31 December 2018) noted that he had seen larvae of presumably the same species from similar galls in Oregon. Two European species, Dasineura pteridicola (Kieffer) and D. pteridis (Müller), form similar galls on the same host (Ellis 2024).
