Gallformers ID Notes

Gall is attached to leaf at center point of the spindle. Color of the center of the spindle turns from green to yellow to tan while ends of the spindle remain green. Frequently the ends of the spindle curve in one direction creating a shape similar to cattle horns. Can be confused with T. taxodii. Note that T. taxodii causes a swelling/deformation of the leaf while the spindle gall is attached to an otherwise normally shaped leaf.
