This species develops in polythalamous, blackish leaf spot galls on Xylorhiza orcuttii Greene (Asteraceae), with four larvae per gall in the examples I observed (Fig. 28). Females are needed to place this species to genus. No cecidomyiid has been reported from Xylorhiza previously.
