Gallformers ID Notes

An abrupt swelling on the bud of Iva annua. The gall is succulent, false-chambered and appears to have a mycelium lining. The larvae within is apparantly hymnopteran, although whether this represents the gall-inducer itself or an inquiline is unknown.

Observed in Virginia in May.
