Bud Gall Mite (Aceria kraftella)

This mite induces globular, bristly, rough-surfaced bud galls along current-year stems of antelope brush (Purshia tridentata). Galls usually form at the base of petioles or where axillary buds occur. Galls measure 5-12 mm in diameter and are brown or gray.
