Gallformers ID Notes

A substantial swelling of the leaf bud of Prunus virginiana occupied by (but which may or may not have been induced by) cecidomyiid larvae. This gall superficially resembles that of Contarinia cerasiserotinae but differs in being found on the bud itself, rather than the apex of the stem.

Observed in Montana in July.
