Gallformers ID Notes

Slight tapered swellings along the midrib and major lateral veins of Quercus macrocarpa, showing more on the lower side of the leaf, containing a single midge larva. Very similar to Polystepha americana found on Quercus rubra. Observed in Texas in November on fallen leaves, galls still containing larvae. A similar gall was observed on veins of Quercus muehlenbergii in Ohio in July.
